The question for today’s blog post on NicheIncomeLab.com (or NIL) is What platform is best for your niche website? The reason why I am asking this questions is because I have been debating which is the best platform for building niche websites. I should also specify when I say “niche website” moving forward after the EMD penalty from Google is an authority niche website (a lot larger with a ton of quality content). There are a variety of platforms to choose from such as: A blog On WordPress Blog.com Blogger TypePad Micro Jux Tumblr Posterous Spaces Blogetery Weebly Live Journal Squarespace SiteBuildIt Joomla ModX TextPattern Drupal DotNetNuke TinyCMS Or you can even build a website from scratch using PHP/HTML/CSS/Javascript/Other languages As you can see from the list above there are a ton of different platforms for building your niche websites. So which one is the best? Most of you probably haven’t even heard of all the platforms above. I honestly can tell you I know of only half myself on the list above. When I create a website I normally stick to a few platforms but this might change in the future. It might be in my best interest to do a case study to see which platform is easiest to use and SEO friendly for building a niche website. It could be possible that one platform will overall grow your business more than others. Most Popular Platforms For Niche Websites I am going to have to say by far the two most popular platforms for creating niche websites are WordPress and SiteBuildIt (SBI). Of everything I read probably 70-80% use WordPress and the others use SiteBuildIt or something similar. Why are these platforms so popular? Well for WordPress it is because its FREE and super easy to use. It gives you all the flexibility you need to create a website without having to know how to code at all! You can basically one click install WordPress and you are off and running. Then all you need to do is login and write your content. It is as simple as that! Now as for SBI on the other hand. This service actually costs money. But SBI comes with built in SEO, webhosting, etc which you need to pay extra for usually when creating your website through WordPress. Wordpress is fantastic but if you want a professional looking website you are still going to need to buy hosting a domain and a few other things to make it look good. Of the two which is the best option? That is really hard to tell unless you were to do a case study and build two websites very similar (but not with duplicate content) and the same link building strategy, the same posting strategy, etc and see how they perform. Even if you were to do this you could have an issue because one topic could rank more easily than another. It’s really a toss up. My Dilemna With What Platform To [...]
